POPIA Consent & Notice

The SAMBO platform is owned and operated by Luthando Maduna & Co. Chartered Accountants (Registration Number 2019/621826/07, SAICA Number 20055210), of 28 Beacon Avenue, Linbro Park AH, Sandton, 2196.

Luthando Maduna & Co. Chartered Accountants is the responsible party in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA), for personal information processed on the SAMBO platform.

Identity and contact details: full names, date of birth, identity or passport number where legally required, address, email address and mobile number.

Membership and financial records: member number, contributions, wallet and ledger entries, orders, applications and allocations recorded on the platform.

Beneficiary and next-of-kin details you choose to provide, and any supporting documents you upload.

Technical information such as device, browser and usage data required to operate and secure the platform.

To create and administer your membership, verify your identity and issue your member number.

To record contributions, process orders and payments, maintain accounting records and prepare statements and reconciliations.

To meet legal, accounting, auditing, tax, FICA and other regulatory obligations applicable to the operator.

To communicate with you about your account, contributions, statements and platform notices.

By registering and by ticking the POPIA consent option, you consent to the collection and processing of your personal information for the purposes set out above.

You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out, and may mean we can no longer administer your membership where processing is required by law.

Personal information is shared only with participating businesses, banking partners, insurers, auditors, regulators and service providers where necessary to deliver the service or to comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal information. Access is restricted to authorised personnel, records are protected by technical and organisational safeguards, and information is retained only as long as required by law or by legitimate business purposes.

All member funds are held and protected in a partner bank Digital Stokvel account, and member funds are insured.

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, request correction or deletion, object to processing, and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
